Choosing an ice maker for a café, tea shop or small bar takes a little more thought than buying for home.

1. Which ice does your menu need?

Spheres suit whiskey and old fashioneds. Bullets or cubes suit iced coffee and sodas. Nugget ice is a natural fit for milk tea and sparkling drinks.

2. Size output for your peak

Estimate the ice you use in your busiest hours, then add headroom. The YH515, for example, makes up to 15 kg a day; the YH511 makes 12 kg.

3. Where will it live?

Countertop ice makers need room to breathe, so keep the sides and back clear of walls and cabinets. Think about scooping, refilling and draining too.
